Chris is the Managing Partner of the Firm. Chris read law at Bristol University under a British High Commissioner’s Chevening Scholarship awarded to him by the British Council and an Overseas Student Scholarship awarded by Bristol University. Chris also holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (Masters) degree from Oxford University where he read his postgraduate law degree at The Kings Hall and College of Brasenose (BNC). Chris received his secondary education at Raffles Institution, Singapore under an ASEAN Secondary Scholarship from the Singapore Ministry of Education and read his A-Levels at Raffles Junior College under an ASEAN Pre-University Scholarship from the Singapore Public Service Commission.
Chris first started legal practice in Malaysia with Messrs. Raslan Loong in 1997 after chambering at Messrs. Allen & Gledhill under Dato’ Lai Khee Sin. While at Messrs. Raslan Loong, Chris was involved in and led several listings, restructuring of several large corporate listed groups, various asset and share acquisitions, due diligence and corporate advisory work. He acted for a variety of investment banks in Malaysia on a number of different corporate finance transactions.
Chris moved to Hong Kong in 2000 to join Baker & McKenzie as an Associate where he was involved in several listings, restructurings, venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, derivatives and structured finance work.
Chris was recruited to serve as Counsel for Hong Kong Disneyland in 2003 where he was involved in setting up the theme park. Chris also took up a position as a Consultant at Jewkes Chan & Partners, a boutique Hong Kong law firm specializing in China focused corporate advisory work.
In 2006, Chris was appointed General Counsel of an online gaming company, in charge of all corporate and legal affairs, travelling between Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines.
Chris moved back to Malaysia for family reasons and assumed the position of Managing Partner of Ting & Partners in October 2008.
Chris has been involved in regional legal work and his current practice focuses on corporate finance (equity and debt), cross border mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments in Vietnam, corporate restructurings and reorganisations, venture capital work and general corporate and commercial advisory work.
